Social Media Pressure in the Sewing Blogger / Vlogger Community

August 9, 2018 by Jennifer Moore 2 Comments

Taking a few minutes here because I want to talk about the pressures of social media.

There seems to be a lot of pressure within the sewing and quilting community to portray this picture of perfection on blogs, Instagram, Pinterest, and YouTube.

Sharing my thoughts on this topic and what I pledge to do personally to promote authenticity on social media within the creative / maker space.

I agree with your comments about the occasional inadequacy of sewing social media.

Hanging in my sewing room is a framed copy of one of my favorite quotes:

“Success is the ability to go from one failure to another
with no loss of enthusiasm”. -Winston Churchill

This is how I view my sewing projects. Some great, some good, some bad, some ridiculous, however nothing will stop me from getting excited about the next project.

Influenced by sewing social media, it took way too long for me to realize and acknowledge that nothing is perfect in the sewing arena. But neither am I, so I continue to happily sew on.
